The Challenge

Food allergies are a growing public health threat, yet they remain widely underdiagnosed. Thermo Fisher Scientific needed to increase awareness and drive more proactive allergy testing to help prevent life‑threatening reactions like anaphylaxis.

The Insight

The most dangerous foods don’t look dangerous at all. They appear safe, until they’re not. Parents and doctors needed a wake-up call, delivered not through fearmongering but clarity. This led us to highlight food allergy testing not just as a medical step – but as a critical safety intervention.

The Idea

The big idea behind “Dangerous Foods” was deceptively simple: if deadly allergens were visible, no one would ignore them. But because they’re invisible, doctors often do. We reframed common foods as lurking predators – visually powerful, viscerally unsettling – and forced a reappraisal of just how dangerous food allergies can be without proper testing.

The Strategy

With hyperreal, AI-generated art direction, each execution dramatized the urgent truth: what looks harmless may not be. By taking innocent, everyday foods like ice cream, nuts or cheese and rendering them as camouflaged predators, the creative provoked immediate, visceral attention. These weren’t abstract warnings; they were visual metaphors for an invisible threat – one that could strike without warning.

This idea stood apart from typical medical communications – no sterile charts, no abstract symptoms. Just one jarring image and one clear call: test, so you know.
